Worker Receives Chest Injuries & Back Injuries in Naval Base Industrial Accident

Kitsap Bremerton Naval BaseBremerton — A 48-year-old Enumclaw man was injured when he was hit by a spreader beam that was being lowered by a barge crane Monday morning in an industrial accident at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Bremerton and shipyard firefighters responded to the incident.

He was a construction worker for subcontractor American Civil Constructors of Lakewood, Colo., on a new aircraft carrier maintenance pier, according to a news release from Naval Facilities Engineering Command Northwest.

The man was first taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with chest and back injuries before he was transferred to Harborview. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Construction sites are highly dangerous areas where there are multiple injuries per year. Many times the pay does not equal the risk. Worker’s compensation often does not reflect the nature of the injury.

A back injury or a chest injury can affect your ability to work for years or even the rest of your life. It is important that you review your legal options. If you or a loved one has been injured on the job call Phillips Webster for a consultation.
