Workers Compensation Attorney: Logger Airlifted After Serious Personal Injury

Workers CompensationWe have written on some of the most dangerous jobs in North America, and by far one of the most dangerous is Logging. In fact, logging is listed as the second most dangerous job when it comes to job related injuries and job related fatalities. That was clearly demonstrated in the deep woods of Snoqualmie yesterday where a worker had to be airlifted out.

Radio traffic suddenly burst into intense chatter yesterday morning after reports that an 18 year-old forestry worker’s leg had been backed over by a tractor as he worked on a site owned by the Weyerhaeuser site near Southeast Mill Pond Road and Weyerhauser Mill Road, along the north fork of the Snoqualmie River, east of Snoqualmie.

Snoqualmie Firefighters were able to reach the man around 11 am. They provided immediate aid controlling the bleeding and keeping the man warm as they waited for an Airlift Northwest helicopter crew to respond.

The officer in charge told reporters that the man’s leg had “significant” damage, but he did not expect the man to lose his leg.

“He was fortunate that he was in soft mud,” at the time of the accident, the officer said.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition has not been updated.

We wish him a swift and full recovery.

During these times when a worker has received a serious personal injury on the job, the Washington State Labor and Industries (L&I) usually jumps in to investigate whether there has been any kind of serious safety violation or negligence due to an unsafe environment. They generally immediately start compensating the employee within 14 days of the accident with 60% of their income.

But there are times when L&I doesn’t come through. In those instances the worker needs a legal representative that can work on their behalf as the worker deals with the pain and recovery from their injury.

If you or someone you know suffer a serious personal injury at work due to improper procedures or a hazardous workplace then you need a skilled attorney with experience in the procedures of workers compensation to get you the compensation you deserve. Call Phillips Webster for a free consultation.
